In the process of working on my digital compositions I've learned a great deal about painting; and vice versa of course.
The experience of painting is perhaps more direct. The consequences of what you are doing are immediately tangible.
However, I do not consider painting as "real", nor digital work as "virtual".
Rather, for me, to paint, correct, photograph, edit, print are all activities that complement each other, and inspire again and again in their diversity.
digital explores the borders between painting and photography. Only a few of the works are "processed photos" in which the original content of the photo is still visible. Most of the works emerge from snippets of photos that are composed and formed into a new picture. The photo snippets are uncoupled from their original context, and reformed into a new work of art, and are comparable to a single brushstroke in a painting.
It is important to me, that those rooms and structures leave enough space for imagination. I like the idea that the beholder is adding something to the picture in her or his mind.
